As USA celebrates sending people to the Moon this year, today Harrison Schmitt is celebrated for being part of the most-recent human mission landing on the Moon, arriving there on the Apollo 17 mission in December 1972. He is the only geologist and only professional scientist to have visited the Moon and is credited with detecting / collecting there the rock sample Troctolite 76535
