SUMMARY:Debris Disk Connections
DESCRIPTION:A workshop highlighting the science of debris disks in Cambridge\, after the successes of Victoria 2018\, Budapest 2019\, EAS 2021\, Jena 2022 and Tucson 2024. \nDebris disks are the disks of dust\, gas\, asteroids and comets found around nearby stars. Their dust and gas components are readily detectable\, providing a unique perspective on the make-up and evolution of exoplanetary systems. This debris must have formed within a star’s protoplanetary disk\, and is seen both around main sequence and post main sequence stars. Study of this debris provides valuable insights into the physical processes affecting the debris\, including dynamical interactions with (usually unseen) planets and radiative processes. However\, importantly this debris also provides unique constraints on closely related areas. \nThe Debris Disk Connections workshop will bring together researchers working on topics related to debris disks so that connections between these different areas can be made through this common theme. Naturally one element of the workshop will focus on the latest results from debris disk observations and theory. In this regard the workshop will be particularly timely because of the results coming out of ALMA programs characterising outer Kuiper belts\, from JWST observations that characterise mid-planetary-system and post-main-sequence debris as well as directly imaged exoplanet populations\, and interferometric techniques probing warm dust in habitable zones – the dreaded obstacle for future exo-Earth imaging. However\, making connections to insights in related areas is just as important to achieve a comprehensive understanding. To that end\, the workshop will feature the following sessions: \n\nThe birth of debris disks in protoplanetary disks\nObservations of exo-Kuiper belts\nExozodis: debris in the habitable zone\nNew insights into the theory of debris disks\nExoplanet demographics as told by debris\nDebris disks on the post-main sequence\nThe perspective of Solar system debris\nImpact of debris delivery on exoplanets\n\nFinancial support for early-career researchers and underrepresented groups will be provided. DESCRIPTION:The Northrop Grumman SpaceLogistics MRV-1 mission features the first commercial robotic servicer Next Spaceflight. Equipped with robotic arms developed with DARPA and the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory SpaceNews\, the MRV will transport and install up to thirty 400 kg Mission Extension Pods (MEPs) on satellites in GEO Supercluster. For this inaugural mission\, the MRV carries three MEPs\, with two servicing Intelsat satellites and one servicing an Optus satellite Factories in Space.

SUMMARY:2026 NASA Exploration Science Forum (NESF2026)
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by SSERVI Central Team at NASA Ames Research Center\, Moffett Field CA\, USA; online option available. The Forum will feature in-depth analyses of research targeting human and robotic exploration of the Moon and other planetary bodies. Attendees will hear updates and results from leading mission scientists and engineers\, and join public discussions with NASA leadership to learn more about the direction of the Agency and community. Mentoring and networking opportunities for students and young professionals will include LunGradCon (Lunar and Small Bodies Graduate Forum) and student competitions for best presentation and poster. Interwoven among the science sessions are ways for all of us to get involved. \nStudent Poster and Oral Presentation Competitions: Winner of the oral and poster competitions will each receive a $1\,500 travel award. Those in 2nd and 3rd place will each receive $1\,000 travel awards. Interested students must indicate that they want to participate in either competition when submitting an abstracts. Please note: if a student presents in both poster and oral\, only one prize will be awarded.
