SUMMARY:Lunar Surface Science Workshop (LSSW #29): Results from Early CLPS Deliveries and Upcoming CLPS Exploration Activities
DESCRIPTION:From 11:00-17:00 EST\, with workshop Co-Chairs Maria Banks and Ryan Watkins of NASA; Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative allows rapid acquisition of lunar delivery services from American companies to deliver scientific\, exploration and technology payloads to the Moon’s surface and into lunar orbit. The CLPS model offers a unique opportunity to test and refine technologies and fill knowledge gaps that will provide insight for future lunar robotic and crewed missions as part of NASA’s Artemis campaign. This LSSW session will focus on communicating details about the first CLPS deliveries and disseminating results from instruments flying on board. There will also be updates on upcoming CLPS deliveries and from instrument teams preparing for these flights\, as well as discussions about lessons learned after the first CLPS flights. Breakout sessions will solicit input from the community on future CLPS activities\, including future lunar surface measurements and technology demonstrations that will complement and/or enhance those from early CLPS flights. The scientific community is invited to come hear exciting results from the first U.S. lunar surface measurements in over 50 years\, and contribute feedback on future CLPS scientific endeavors!
