SUMMARY:Info Session: Falcon 9 upper stage impact into the Moon
DESCRIPTION:Session 9:00 PT (12:00 ET) to overview the Falcon 9 upper stage which is expected to impact the lunar surface on 05 August 2026. The upper stage is from the launch vehicle that launched the Hakuto-R Mission 2 lander and NASA’s CLPS Blue Ghost-1 lander to the Moon. This impact (expected to occur near Einstein/Bell Craters near the lunar limb) may be observable from multiple assets (ground and space-based)\, so to facilitate the coordination and planning of observations\, we will hold an informational session to share relevant information as is known today for anyone interested. \nCONFERENCE IO INFO: \nYour session is live here: https://arc.cnf.io/\, and directly here:  Observing the Falcon 9 upper stage impact into the Moon – Conferences i/o \nTEAMS CONNECTION INFO: \nMicrosoft Teams meeting \nJoin: https://teams.microsoft.com/meet/27390195364357?p=Y3uLa4QqXfm67qBIOI \nMeeting ID: 273 901 953 643 57 \nPasscode: VV9Ka9pV \nNeed help? | System reference \nDial in by phone \n+1 256-715-9946\,\,102421875# United States\, Huntsville \nFind a local number \nPhone conference ID: 102 421 875# \nJoin on a video conferencing device \nTenant key: teams@meet.nisn.nasa.gov \nVideo ID: 112 143 313 9 \nMore info

SUMMARY:2026 International Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC)
DESCRIPTION:IREC isn’t just a competition\, it’s a launchpad for innovation and careers. This year\, 175 teams have successfully applied and been accepted to participate in the 2026 IREC — to push the limits of high-powered rocketry\, applying classroom theory to real-world engineering challenges\, and break new IREC records! \nThe Experimental Sounding Rocket Association (ESRA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2003 for the purpose of fostering and promoting engineering knowledge and experience in the field of rocketry. ESRA’s mission is to provide safe and exciting opportunities for academic groups to compete in aerospace challenges. \nIn 2006\, ESRA established the International Rocket Engineering Competition (IREC) which has since grown from a handful of U.S. based collegiate teams to welcoming 150+ collegiate teams from ~22 countries on 6 different continents. During the IREC each team designs\, builds\, tests and launches rockets with a payload size >2kg and target altitudes of 3\,000 to 30\,000 meters. Rockets are typically 10 to 20 centimeters in diameter and 2.5 to 6 meters long. Multi-stage rockets and all chemical propulsion types (solid\, liquid and hybrid) are allowed.

SUMMARY:Exoplanets 6 Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Exoplanet research is experiencing exciting times. Space missions and cutting-edge ground-based instruments are continually uncovering new populations of planets and enabling their detailed characterization. Along with advancements in theoretical models\, these discoveries are providing unprecedented insights into the processes of planet formation and evolution\, while also revealing the interiors and atmospheres of these distant worlds. \nIn 2026\, the PLATO mission will be launched\, marking the beginning of a new chapter in this quest. Shortly after\, missions like Roman and ARIEL\, alongside the first generation of extremely large telescopes\, will further complement this exploration. Together with current instruments and missions such as JWST and Gaia\, a new window will open allowing a unique view into the diversity and properties of exoplanets\, from hot giant planets to cool neptunes and rocky worlds. The stage is set to pursue one of the holy grails in the field: detecting and characterizing Earth-like planets\, including searching for potential bio-signatures\, and understanding their frequency in the Galaxy. \nIt is in this context that we invite the entire exoplanet community to join us in Porto for Exoplanets 6. The conference will take place in Porto\, Portugal\, between the 29th of June and the 3rd of July 2026\, and cover all state-of-the-art aspects of exoplanet science\, including: \n\nPresent day results of exoplanet research\nThe detailed characterization of exoplanets and exoplanetary systems: architecture\, interior models\, atmospheres\, astrobiology\nNext steps towards the detection of the lowest mass/smallest exoplanets: the methods and main the challenges (data analysis\, improved treatment of astrophysical variability and instrumentation-based systematics)\n\nFor inquiries email exoplanets6@iastro.pt.

SUMMARY:Debris Disk Connections
DESCRIPTION:A workshop highlighting the science of debris disks in Cambridge\, after the successes of Victoria 2018\, Budapest 2019\, EAS 2021\, Jena 2022 and Tucson 2024. \nDebris disks are the disks of dust\, gas\, asteroids and comets found around nearby stars. Their dust and gas components are readily detectable\, providing a unique perspective on the make-up and evolution of exoplanetary systems. This debris must have formed within a star’s protoplanetary disk\, and is seen both around main sequence and post main sequence stars. Study of this debris provides valuable insights into the physical processes affecting the debris\, including dynamical interactions with (usually unseen) planets and radiative processes. However\, importantly this debris also provides unique constraints on closely related areas. \nThe Debris Disk Connections workshop will bring together researchers working on topics related to debris disks so that connections between these different areas can be made through this common theme. Naturally one element of the workshop will focus on the latest results from debris disk observations and theory. In this regard the workshop will be particularly timely because of the results coming out of ALMA programs characterising outer Kuiper belts\, from JWST observations that characterise mid-planetary-system and post-main-sequence debris as well as directly imaged exoplanet populations\, and interferometric techniques probing warm dust in habitable zones – the dreaded obstacle for future exo-Earth imaging. However\, making connections to insights in related areas is just as important to achieve a comprehensive understanding. To that end\, the workshop will feature the following sessions: \n\nThe birth of debris disks in protoplanetary disks\nObservations of exo-Kuiper belts\nExozodis: debris in the habitable zone\nNew insights into the theory of debris disks\nExoplanet demographics as told by debris\nDebris disks on the post-main sequence\nThe perspective of Solar system debris\nImpact of debris delivery on exoplanets\n\nFinancial support for early-career researchers and underrepresented groups will be provided. Students are especially encouraged to share their results with the community. \nDetails will follow in the coming months. Sign up for the mailing list here! \nWe are grateful for the support of the Kavli Institute for Cosmology\, Cambridge\, which is sponsoring this event. \nFor any enquiries\, please contact ioa-debrisdisk@ast.cam.ac.uk
