SUMMARY:CanSat Competition and UK Youth Rocketry Challenge Regional Finals
DESCRIPTION:At Snowdonia Space Centre. CanSat competition is organized by the UK European Space Education Resources Office (ESERO-UK)\, supported by the European Space Agency (ESA). Teams must design and build their own mini satellite within the dimensions of a drinks can\, that must include all major subsystems found in a satellite (such as power\, sensors and a communication system). The satellites are launched to an altitude of around 300m on mini rockets at regional launches around the UK. \nThe Welsh regional finals of the annual UKROC (UK Youth Rocketry Challenge) competition sees student teams design\, build and launch a model rocket carrying a fragile payload. SUMMARY:2nd IAA Moon Farside Protection Symposium
DESCRIPTION:The Moon naturally shields electromagnetic waves generated by human activities on Earth and around it\, results in a silence zone on and above its Farside\, called Shielded Zone on the Moon (SZM). The SZM is a region of utmost scientific interest\, in particular for Cosmology\, Astrobiology\, Planetary Defense\, and SETI / Technosignatures. Online conference attendance is possible. \n1. COSMOLOGY – To detect the extremely feeble radiation of the hydrogen line at 1420 MHz\, down-shifted to much lower frequencies\, MHz or kHz\, due to the over 13 billion years of universe expansion. The radio silence of the Farside would ensure a significant leap forward in Cosmology research. \n2. ASTROBIOLOGY – To study pre-biological interstellar molecules through their roto-vibrational spectra: a fine search for weak spectral lines that can be supported by advanced radio telescopes in combination with the radio silence of the Moon Farside. \n3. PLANETARY DEFENSE – From the Moon Farside\, radar and optical telescopes can be used for accurate measurements of the six orbital parameters of each asteroid and comet. This would increase the lead time that is the time that Humanity has in order to setup space missions to Deflect asteroids and comets before they impact the Earth. \n4. SETI/TECHNOSIGNATURES – To search\, with very low noise\, for “signatures” of Alien Civilizations that would reach us extremely faint due to the vast distances between stars. The discovery of one or more Extraterrestrial Civilizations would change the course of human history.

SUMMARY:Earth & Space Report Featuring Jordan Bretzfelder on Planetary Analogs
DESCRIPTION:William Waller invites Dr. Bretzfelder from Georgia Tech to discuss via Zoom “Planetary Analogs: Simulating the Solar System in our Backyard.” At 19:00 EDT | 23:00 UTC | 13:00 HST. Here is her abstract: \nRocky planetary bodies throughout the solar system have a variety of different surface conditions\, from the thick atmospheres of basalt-covered Venus and organic-rich Titan\, to the ephemeral atmospheres of hyper-volcanic Io and the frozen surface of Pluto.  Despite these differences\, geologic processes and resulting landforms are surprisingly similar on all of these worlds. My work leverages accessible terrestrial analogs\, meaning comparable natural environments or systems\, that are found here on Earth (or created  in the lab) to better understand these geologic processes and their planetary counterparts. The projects I will discuss are conducted in support of ongoing and upcoming planetary exploration missions\, including the Mars rovers and the upcoming Dragonfly mission\, as well as other missions in the early stages of development. \nJoin Zoom Meeting\nhttps://us06web.zoom.us/j/8952645644?pwd=ZmozcWFlK0JJSXJ2MGdWeEMxQTVEUT09&omn=83264306303\nOne tap mobile\n+16469313860\,\,8952645644#\,\,\,\,*634305# US\n+19294362866\,\,8952645644#\,\,\,\,*634305# US (New York) \nJoin instructions\nhttps://us06web.zoom.us/meetings/83264306303/invitations?signature=TZq-2goSOAzT670n6qgT8zQv8IcPN_vw9UFUorQ7hUA \nWilliam H.
