SUMMARY:Earth & Space Report Featuring Jordan Bretzfelder on Planetary Analogs
DESCRIPTION:William Waller invites Dr. Bretzfelder from Georgia Tech to discuss via Zoom “Planetary Analogs: Simulating the Solar System in our Backyard.” At 19:00 EDT | 23:00 UTC | 13:00 HST. Here is her abstract: \nRocky planetary bodies throughout the solar system have a variety of different surface conditions\, from the thick atmospheres of basalt-covered Venus and organic-rich Titan\, to the ephemeral atmospheres of hyper-volcanic Io and the frozen surface of Pluto.  Despite these differences\, geologic processes and resulting landforms are surprisingly similar on all of these worlds. My work leverages accessible terrestrial analogs\, meaning comparable natural environments or systems\, that are found here on Earth (or created  in the lab) to better understand these geologic processes and their planetary counterparts. The projects I will discuss are conducted in support of ongoing and upcoming planetary exploration missions\, including the Mars rovers and the upcoming Dragonfly mission\, as well as other missions in the early stages of development. \nJoin Zoom Meeting\nhttps://us06web.zoom.us/j/8952645644?pwd=ZmozcWFlK0JJSXJ2MGdWeEMxQTVEUT09&omn=83264306303\nOne tap mobile\n+16469313860\,\,8952645644#\,\,\,\,*634305# US\n+19294362866\,\,8952645644#\,\,\,\,*634305# US (New York) \nJoin instructions\nhttps://us06web.zoom.us/meetings/83264306303/invitations?signature=TZq-2goSOAzT670n6qgT8zQv8IcPN_vw9UFUorQ7hUA \nWilliam H.
