SUMMARY:Spacecraft Rendezvous and Proximity Operations
DESCRIPTION:Online short course on Rendezvous and Proximity Operations (RPO)\, critical for crew transfer\, in-space assembly and space debris removal\, among other uses. Instructor is Pradipto Ghosh; 12 classroom hours / 2.4 CEU-PDH; online via Zoom with replays available. Students will receive Certificates of Completion from both AIAA and Johns Hopkins University. \nTopics covered include RPO Concept of Operations (ConOps)\, relative orbit design\, maneuver calculation\, and elements of navigation. The objectives of this course are to develop the general principles governing spacecraft proximity operations\, rendezvous\, and docking. Students will be introduced to topics such as near and far range rendezvous\, natural motion circumnavigation\, safe relative motion\, phasing\, and rendezvous trajectory design. After completing this six-week course\, students will be able to conceptualize the operations of rendezvous and prox-ops missions such as the International Space Station (ISS) resupply\, crew transfer\, extra-vehicular activities\, and on-orbit assembly/refueling. A basic knowledge of Newtonian Mechanics and Ordinary Differential Equations is expected.

SUMMARY:NASA News Conference on Moon Base Plans
DESCRIPTION:At 14:00 EDT | 18:00 UTC | 08:00 HST\, NASA personnel including Administrator Isaacman will discuss plans and progress toward a sustained presence on the lunar surface\, a Moon Base. \nSpeaking at NASA Headquarters\, leadership will discuss program progress\, including new industry partners and mission plans. Subject matter experts will be available for one-on-one interviews after the news conference ends. \nWatch live on NASA+ and the agency’s YouTube channel. Learn how to watch NASA content through a variety of online platforms\, including social media. \nParticipants include: \n\nNASA Administrator Jared Isaacman\nLori Glaze\, acting associate administrator\, Exploration Systems Development Mission Directorate\nCarlos García-Galán\, program executive\, Moon Base\n\nMedia unable to attend in person may ask questions by telephone. To participate in person or by phone\, media must RSVP to the headquarters newsroom no later than 11 a.m. on May 26\, at: hq-media@mail.nasa.gov. NASA’s media accreditation policy is available online. \nNASA is advancing development of Moon Base\, a long-term lunar exploration and infrastructure initiative designed to enable sustained human presence and expanded scientific and commercial activity at the lunar South Pole. \nAs part of the Golden Age of innovation and exploration\, NASA will send astronauts on increasingly difficult missions to explore more of the Moon for scientific discovery\, economic benefits\, and to build on our foundation for the first crewed missions to Mars. \nFor more information about NASA’s missions\, visit: \nhttps://www.nasa.gov
