SUMMARY:National Space Science Symposium (NSSS) 2026
DESCRIPTION:A biennial event organized by ISRO for researchers working in the fields of atmospheric\, space and planetary sciences\, astronomy and astrophysics\, and the exploration of solar system bodies. The first NSSS was held in 1978 at Andhra University\, Visakhapatnam. The 23rd National Space Science Symposium will be held at Umiam\, Shillong and hosted by the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC). The NSSS 2026 will feature six parallel scientific sessions on diverse themes in space science and technology\, including an exclusive student session aimed at fostering young scientific minds. The event will also include public lectures\, plenary and interdisciplinary sessions\, invited talks delivered by leading experts and professionals from the field and exhibition by industry & government.

DESCRIPTION:3:00 pm – Volunteers and speakers arrive/eat at HP\n4:30 pm – Guests arrive @HP\n4:45 – 5:45 pm – Lecture\n6 pm – Volunteers set up telescopes (Weather dependent)\n6:37 pm – Sunset\n7 – 8:30 pm – Moongazing in HP lower lot (45 min moon only\, 45 min star talk + planets)\n8:15 – 9 pm – Telescope take down \nDirectors from the International Lunar Observatory Association (ILOA) will give a presentation on the series of Astronomy Moon Missions they are advancing – from Hawai`i to the Moon with Aloha. We will then provide guided Moon observations highlighting points of interest\, including the location that ILOA landed its precursor mission in February 2024\, and the two potential landing sites for their upcoming ILO-1 flagship mission to the lunar South Pole region – Malapert Summit and Mons Mouton.
