SUMMARY:The Solar System in Context Conference
DESCRIPTION:The Solar System in Context \nToward an interconnected perspective on the formation and evolution of the Solar System\, exoplanetary systems\, and their stars. \nMain Topics \nDisks\, Stellar Evolution\, Planet-Star Connections\, (Exo)Planets\, Planetary Demographics\, Habitability\, Planet Formation\, Migration\, & Evolution\, Rocky Small Bodies\, (Exo)Moons\, Active Asteroids & (Exo)Comets\, Interstellar Objects\, Instrumentation & Software Tools. \nIntroduction \nWe are happy to announce the 2025 NOIRLab Science Conference: The Solar System in Context. This is the third in the regular series of NOIRLab-sponsored conferences; this year’s conference is focused on the interdisciplinarity of the formation and evolution of the Solar System\, exoplanetary systems\, and their stars. \nOur understanding of planet formation and system evolution has grown tremendously over the past few decades\, expanding from the study of our Solar System to the thousands of planetary systems discovered across our local neighborhood. Yet there is much that remains to be unravelled\, and as the amount of data available continues to grow\, so does the number of questions yet to be answered. The motivation for this four-day NOIRLab conference is to bring together members across the Solar System\, exoplanet\, and stellar communities to discuss planetary science from a broad\, interconnected perspective. The conference will explore our understanding of planet formation and system evolution from each of these disciplines with the goal of connecting the dots between each area of study and working toward developing a more comprehensive picture of these important processes. \nThe conference will feature talks and poster presentations by experts in the fields of Solar System science\, exoplanets\, and solar analogues as well as sessions designed for discussion and active engagement by participants. \nJoin us as we deepen our understanding of the formation and evolution of planetary systems and broaden our perspectives on the context of our Solar System among the thousands of varied planetary systems that stretch across the galaxy. \nMailing List \nTo join the public mailing list for updates on the conference\, please send an email to solarsystemcontext2025_ml+subscribe@noirlab.edu (you can leave the subject and main text blank). You will then receive an email providing you with a link to join the mailing list. Please ignore the button to click and instead reply to the message in your email client. You should then receive a confirmation email that you have joined the solarsystemcontext2025_ml mailing list. \nContact \nTo get in touch with the SOC or LOC\, please email solarsystemcontext2025@noirlab.edu \nYom Kippur and Tucson Synagogues \nThe Solar System in Context LOC would like to offer our apologies for scheduling the conference over Yom Kippur from Wednesday night to Thursday night during the conference. Choosing these dates was an unintentional oversight on our part. \nIf you wish to observe the holiday with the Jewish community\, local Jewish synagogues include Young Israel – Chabad Tucson\, Kol Ami Synagogue\, Congregation Chofetz Chayim\, Congregation Anshei Israel\, and Congregation Chaverim.
