First Landing on Moon by USA, 60th Observation

Surveyor 1 Lander celebrated today for USA’s first successful landing on Moon; craft landed on this day in 1966 at Oceanus Procellarum (the Ocean of Storms), 2.474°S and 43.339°W, which is situated in the northeastern portion of the Flamsteed P crater.
It followed first hard (September 14, 1959) and soft landings (February 3, 1966) of the Soviet Union.
